Angkor : Apsara Dancing





Apsaras  are female spirits, celestial dancers whose depictions can be found on many temple walls of Angkor.  





I thought they were "celestial" only, supernatural spirits to please us, like angels, with strangely elongated fingers and awkward postures. However, they have modern and real counterparts in flesh and blood ...

A dance troupe of four ladies danced Khmer dances in contemporary style to the music of Bach's Cello Suites as well as some techno sounds - perfect!
