The Classic Victorian Greenhouse
Whenever in a foreign city I visit the Botanic Garden, so this post is about Berlin's famous Botanical Garden in Dahlem. It was built at the end of the 19th century and covers a huge area with over 22.000 different species from all continents that are very well documented and presented. The garden is not only scientifically renowned but has woods, meadows and a lot of natural planting with vistas - it is a pleasure to walk the many paths.

This one has the surprising name "Darlingtonia californica" or cobra plant... what kind of darling has this scientist known to choose such a name for this carnivore?
