Walking the Streets of Paris II : Sainte Chapelle

lower chapel

This is a place that I always visit when in Paris: Sainte Chapelle, the two storey-chapel dating from the 13th century located on Île de la Cité.  Its stained glass windows and the intense colour of sun light through the windows continue to amaze and uplift.

The chapel is within the building complex La Conciergerie , where during the French Revolution many prisoners were held. Nowadays it is part of the Palais de Justice with law courts.

The medieval hall "Salle de gens d'arme" is used for exhibitions.

Wanderlust - Paris

I had prepared this post for times when at a loss of ideas, but the atrocious events of the past weekend by barbarians that are trying to send mankind back to the dark middle-ages justify this post now, for a cultured and wonderful, vibrant city in need of every bit of support it can get even if it is just a "thinking of you".

My daughter spent a semester at a Paris university in 2013, therefore I was in Paris quite often for photographic explorations, only a four-hour train ride away.
